Alexander Zverev has revealed that Carlos Alcaraz and himself had a private chat about their rivals. The world No. 2 was edged out by Taylor Fritz in a close semi-final at the ATP Finals on Saturday, with Fritz winning 6-3 3-6 7-6 (3).

Taylor Fritz edged past Alexander Zverev to become the first American to reach the title match at the ATP Finals for nearly 20 years. American players were regular champions in the first 30 years of the tournament’s history, but Pete Sampras in 1999 was the last to lift the trophy.

Carlos did not feel well in the opening match in Turin against Casper Ruud, falling in straight sets and finding himself in a tough position. He defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets in the second match and welcomed Zverev's victories over the other two rivals to keep his chances alive.

Carlos Alcaraz was the big name missing when the last two semifinal spots at the ATP Finals were filled by Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud.
