Robert Pattinson and Bong Joon Ho’s 'Mickey 17' dominates Korea’s box office with $6.6 million debut, surpassing 'Captain America: Brave New World.'

Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho's latest film Mickey 17 has gotten a flying start in his home country as the sci-fi dark comedy broke records after its release. Produced by Warner Bros Pictures, the film stars The Batman star Robert Pattinson as several disposable clones.

Director Bong recalled, "The day of the meeting was fun. When he walked into the cafe, he really looked like Mickey. He seemed somewhat wronged," to which Pattinson quipped, "You didn’t think, 'He really looks stupid' or something like that?" which drew laughter.

Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho found it a relatively easy choice to cast Robert Pattinson as the titular character in his latest film "Mickey 17."

Oscar-winning film director Bong Joon-ho’s new sci-fi movie “Mickey 17” surpassed 1 million admissions at the Korean box office within just four days of its release, according to the Korean Film Council on Monday.

Director Bong Joon-Ho says audiences will “get a huge mixture of different emotions” out of Mickey 17’s dark comedy.
