DALLAS – The Dallas Police Department has not given any updates four days into its investigation into how a Southwest flight departing for Indianapolis was hit with a bullet on the runway at Dallas Love Field.

A bullet has struck the body of a Southwest Airlines airplane preparing for departure from a Dallas airport, forcing the cancellation of the evening flight.

Southwest is the main carrier at Love Field, and the airline’s headquarters is there, too. The airport, ringed by residential neighborhoods, is eight miles from downtown. Love Field was the region’s main airport until Dallas Fort Worth International Airport opened in 1974.
