Craig Melvin, 45, will be taking over for “Today” anchor Hoda Kotb when she steps down. The move will give him a big salary bump, as Us Weekly reports that he’ll make about $5 million to $6 million in his new role. He allegedly makes $3 million per year now.

By selecting Mr. Melvin, a familiar face on the show, network executives chose to go the steadiest route possible.

“Today” has found its replacement for Hoda Kotb. Craig Melvin is taking over Kotb’s role on the NBC daytime program. Kotb, 60, shared the news on Thursday morning, while also confirming her last day on the show is Friday, January 10.

Melvin, an NBC News veteran of almost 14 years, will take the anchor chair in January, a week before Hoda Kotb’s final appearance as co-host.

Craig Melvin will keep it in the NBC family when he replaces Hoda Kotb on the “Today” show early next year. Kotb, 60, announced on the legacy morning show Thursday that as of Jan. 10, Melvin, 45, will move from co-anchoring the 9 a.m. hour to join Savannah Guthrie in co-anchoring the 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. block.
