Donna Langley is in the NBCU driver's seat as the Comcast-owned company prepares to spinoff MSNBC & other cable channels

Comcast said Wednesday that it is planning to spin off its NBCUniversal cable TV networks, including channels like MSNBC, CNBC, and E!, carving out a business that has been hurt by cord cutting and the rise of streaming.

Comcast says the "well-capitalized independent company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content."
