Pro-Palestine activists blockaded several Barclays bank branches on Saturday in protest at the institution’s financial links with Israel. The protesters called for customers to close their accounts to show their opposition to the bank’s alleged investment in arms companies selling weapons used by Israeli forces in the Gaza conflict.

The official unveiling of the famous Bourke Street Mall Myer Christmas windows didn’t go ahead due to a planned pro-Palestinian protest to ruin the event. During the week, the organiser of the pro-Palestine protest said the protest wasn’t going ahead due to Myer’s decision to cancel the event.
