Indian prime minister Narendra Modi is set to be one of the first foreign leaders to visit new American president Donald Trump. The two leaders had a phone call on Monday where they underscored their commitment to a “mutually beneficial and trusted partnership”,

The two leaders also doubled down on their friendship, which began during Trump's first term in office. Trump attended a rally with Modi in Houston in 2019, and visited India in 2020.
