CHICAGO (CBS) -- An era is coming to an end in River North, as the Chicago outpost of the Hard Rock Café is soon to close after 39 years in business.

The Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago has announced it will close its doors for good later this year. Former president George W. Bush took the internet by storm during the 2025 Inauguration of President Donald Trump, where the 43rd president seemed to have a playful moment during the proceedings.

The Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago's River North neighborhood will permanently close on March 29. The location, one of the original ten Hard Rock Cafes, opened in 1986. The company will provide resources for employees and invites them to apply at other locations.

After 39 years of operation at 63 W. Ontario Street in River North, Chicago's Hard Rock Cafe will officially shut down on March 29 of this year, according to NBC Chicago. The news was first shared by a fan account on Facebook last week, confirmed today by NBC Chicago.

A grand opening party was held for the Hard Rock Cafe at 63 W. Ontario St. in 1986, as that area of River North was transformed from little more than a row of gas stations to an entertainment district.
