Kusal Mendis unbeaten 74 helped Sri Lanka clinch an ODI series win over New Zealand with a three-wicket win in the second match.

Kusal Mendis hit a gritty 74 not out as Sri Lanka posted a thrilling three-wicket win against New Zealand to clinch the three-match one-day international series on Sunday. It was also Sri Lanka's first win in an ODI series over the Black Caps in 12 years.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field in the second one-day international against New Zealand on Sunday. Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando smashed centuries in Sri Lanka's 45-run win under the DLS method in a rain-affected first ODI on Wednesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Kusal Mendis was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM) for two stumpings and an unbeaten 74-run knock under a tremendous amount of pressure. Mendis was the only Sri Lankan batter who looked at ease against the Kiwi spinners.
