Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said on Thursday that New Delhi is engaging with the U.S. to ensure that illegal Indian immigrants are not mistreated while being deported after opposition parties protested against the treatment of a group that was sent back this week.

India's Parliament has been disrupted as opposition lawmakers protested what they said was mistreatment of 104 Indian immigrants deported by the U.S.

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said the government is engaging with the United States to ensure no Indian deportee is mistreated during the travel in the wake of 104 extradited nationals' claim that they were handcuffed and chained during the long journey.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made a statement in Rajya Sabha over the deportation of alleged illegal Indian immigrants from the US. “All countries must take back their nationals if they are found to be living illegally abroad,
