In the ongoing power struggle in Thornton Township, township supervisor Tiffany Henyard plans to appoint a new trustee to fill a vacancy on the township’s board Tuesday night, but two other trustees who have challenged her spending are trying to prevent her from making the move by not showing up.

The challenges to Tiffany Henyard’s control in the South Suburbs are escalating yet again. Two Thornton Township trustees said they will skip Tuesday night’s board meeting because Supervisor Henyard failed to provide adequate answers about spending.

Two Thornton Township Trustees are preventing the board from conducting business Tuesday night by skipping the meeting. Christopher Gonzalez and Carmen Carlisle said in a joint statement they’ve made the “difficult decision” to skip the meeting.
