Josh McDaniels is reportedly returning to the New England Patriots for a third stint as offensive coordinator. NFL insider Kirk Minihane reported the news everyone expected to come at some point, even though coach Mike Vrabel said he’d consider multiple candidates for the job.

Josh McDaniels is joining Vrabel’s coaching staff as New England’s offensive coordinator, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. A six-time Super Bowl champion as an assistant coach, McDaniels is best known as Bill Belichick’s longtime offensive playcaller.

The New England Patriots are reportedly adding yet another familiar coaching face this offseason, as Josh McDaniels makes another return to Foxborough as offensive coordinator.

NFL insider Adam Schefter said on WEEI that just because Josh McDaniels had failures as a coach doesn’t mean they will carry over in his return to the Patriots as OC.
