Liverpool will take on Paris Saint-Germain and reigning champion Real Madrid will play rival Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16, the draw revealed Friday in Nyon, Switzerland.

The last time the two Spanish capital sides met in Europe's premium club competition was in the 2016/17 semifinals where Real Madrid progressed over two legs. The return fixture was the last Champions League match ever played at the old Vicente Calderón stadium.

A superb goal from Brahim Diaz helped Real Madrid maintain its dominance of the Madrid derby on Europe's biggest stage with a 2-1 victory over bitter rival Atletico in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday.
