The Pacers' Bennedict Mathurin has been suspended one game "for making inappropriate contact and verbally abusing a game official," the NBA announced.

The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter when Mathurin made a layup and the Cavaliers quickly took off the other way. Mathurin sprinted back in transition and was called for a foul on Evan Mobley. It appeared to be an obvious foul, but Mathurin thought otherwise. He immediately put his arms out in the air and started to complain to Sago.

Moments before the Indiana Pacers (22-19) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end versus the Cleveland Cavaliers (34-5), Bennedict Mathurin was ejected. The valuable wing clearly fouled big man Evan Mobley in the fourth quarter but ardently protested the call to official Natalie Sago.

Mathurin recorded 24 points (11-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three rebounds, one block and two steals across 25 minutes during Thursday's 140-110 loss to the Spurs.

This is only a one-game suspension, so Mathurin will be back on Saturday for the game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Pacers are going to need him for as many games as possible because of the scoring and rebounding he brings to the roster. So far this season, Mathurin is averaging 16.5 points, six points, and two assists per game.
