MIAMI – The Orlando Magic wasted a 12-point advantage in the final six minutes of regulation, and then a six-point lead in overtime before losing to the Miamt.
The 2025 NBA trade deadline is just over a week away, and just about every team in the league is looking to play some kind of angle.
Franz Wagner, playing in just his third game after missing 20 straight with a torn right oblique, led the Magic with 29 points. He again played beyond his original minutes restriction, logging 40 minutes. Paolo Banchero, who played 44 minutes, had an overall rough night, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-21 floor shooting and five turnovers.
In the second OT, Duncan Robinson delivered an alley-oop to Adebayo, and Adebayo drove past Anthony Black for a jam after two Magic misses, putting Miami up four. A Wendell Carter Jr. three-point play pulled Orlando within one, but Kel’El Ware then tapped back a miss to Adebayo, who passed to Herro for a three that put Miami up four with 1:39 left.
The Orlando Magic will need to be ready for another physical battle when they visit their Sunshine State rivals, the Miami Heat, on Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
