New England is expected to hire Josh McDaniels as head coach Mike Vrabel's new offensive coordinator, a position he held on two previous occassions, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday.

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has made his second big hire, snagging another former Detroit Lions coach for his defensive coordinator.

The Patriots announced that McDaniels has been hired as the offensive coordinator on new head coach Mike Vrabel’s staff on Wednesday. It is the third time that McDaniel has served in the role as he had two stints working for Bill Belichick and was part of six Super Bowl winners in New England.
