More wintry weather may be on the way to Western North Carolina a week after Asheville and Hendersonville's first snow of 2025.
An arctic air mass is on its way to the Western North Carolina area.
Though predictions are not entirely certain, meteorologists are saying that the area will most likely see mainly snow rather than ice, sleet.
Totals lined up with National Weather Service predictions, though most of the region dodged predicted potential power outages.

Extreme cold combined with wind can cause the human body to lose heat at a faster rate, enhancing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia, the NWS says. Frostbite occurs when skin and the tissues beneath it freeze, with fingers, toes, ears and the nose at highest risk, experts say.
Lane said that the arctic air mass is expected to bring low temperatures in the single digits and high temperatures that won't get higher than the 20s. These extremely cold temperatures will affect the Asheville area and much of WNC for about three days, from Sunday, Jan. 19, to Tuesday, Jan. 21.
