During a news conference at Nome City Hall Friday afternoon, Lt. Cmdr. Mike Salerno said a Coast Guard helicopter lowered two rescuers onto the sea ice. They identified three people inside the aircraft, and the rest are presumed to also be within the wreckage.

The Coast Guard said three people were found dead inside of the plane, and it's clear from the wreckage there were no survivors.

Community members in Nome and Unalakleet are grieving a fatal Bering Air plane crash that left 10 dead. According to Alaska State Troopers, the plane consisted of nine passengers and a pilot. Troopers added that it was a regularly scheduled flight that flies twice a day.
