CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC) — A plane crashed along a busy road in Chattanooga Tuesday evening, but both people aboard survived the crash, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD). The crash happened just before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Shallowford Road and Airport Road, near the Chattanooga Airport.

The Chattanooga Fire Department said two people suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when their plane crashed on a busy road during rush hour. CFD said the plane’s engine went out just before 6 p.

Officials with the Chattanooga Fire Department said two people are “very lucky to be alive” after a small plane crashed near a Tennessee airport.

According to reports, the engine went out and the plane went down half a mile from a runway at a nearby airport.
