Enzo Maresca and Chelsea have been informed of Henrique Hilario’s desire to quit the club to join Thomas Tuchel’s England set-up.Former Chelsea boss Tuchel was appointed England manager in October, succeeding Gareth Southgate in charge of the Three Lions.

Chelsea goalkeeping coach Hilario has resigned from his position to become part of Thomas Tuchel’s backroom staff with England. Hilario has decided to leave Stamford Bridge after 16 years working at the club in order to become the head goalkeeping coach with England when Tuchel officially starts work on January 1.

The former Blues boss, now overseeing the Three Lions, has reportedly lured an old colleague over to his new job.

But the club needs to move forward and Maresca's comeback has to be a footnote in the big picture. While it was a successful, brief spell - even if there were some grumblings about the patient style last term - there is little point dwelling on the past.
