President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday directing the federal government, the largest purchaser of goods and services in the country, to stop purchasing paper straws.

The decision to downsize the government workforce is in line with Trump’s policy priorities to align it with the US government with an effort from tech billionaire Elon Musk.
