The reports say that an assembly of senior government officers had elected a successor to the 85-year-old Supreme Leader in September.

Mojtaba Khamenei’s prominence within the regime has become increasingly apparent over the past two years. Although he has made few public appearances, he is noted for his alleged involvement in suppressing the 2009 post-election protests.

Israeli media outlet Ynet News, citing Iran International, reports that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is in a coma. The Assembly of Experts allegedly chose his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as his successor during a secret meeting on September 26.

Reports indicate that Ali Khamenei is in poor health and may pass leadership to his son Mojtaba to ensure a smooth transition. Secret meetings have been held to finalize the succession, raising concerns about potential protests against the undemocratic process.
