A Seoul court on Monday sentenced a former district chief of police to three years behind bars without labor over the city's tragic crowd crush of Halloween weekend 2022.

Former Seoul Yongsan Police Precinct Chief Lee Im-jae, who was brought to trial on charges of poor response to the Itaewon crowd crush disaster of Oct. 29, 2022, was sentenced to three years in prison by a Seoul court on Monday.

SEOUL - A South Korean court handed a three-year jail term on Sept 30 to a former Seoul district police chief over a crush that killed more than 150 people, the Yonhap news agency reported.
