War may be the only thing keeping Russia's economy afloat. According to Jay Zagorsky, an economist and markets professor at Boston University's Questrom School of Business, the Ukraine invasion is likely the only thing preventing the country from slipping into a recession.

The southwestern region of Volgograd came under particularly heavy fire, with 67 Ukrainian drones reportedly downed by Russian air defenses.

Odesa region: In the early hours of Sept. 27, Russia attacked the southern port city of Izmail on the Danube River, killing two women and one man, and injuring at least 16 others. Izmail, an important transit point for Ukrainian grain exports enroute to the Black Sea, is located across the Danube from Romania, a NATO member.

More than 100 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russia Sunday, Russian officials said, sparking a wildfire and setting an apartment block alight in one of the largest barrages seen over Russian skies since Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Within a week, Russia used nearly 900 guided aerial bombs and more than 300 Shahed drones against Ukraine. The occupiers also launched over 40 missiles, according to the Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Kyiv City Military Administration has reported that about 15 Russian Shahed attack drones targeted the city of Kyiv on the night of 27-28 September. Air defence responded to all of the drones, but the debris fell in the Obolonskyi district of the city.
