USA Hockey announced today, January 30, that Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been selected as an assistant captain for Team USA for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. McAvoy was named alternate captain for the Bruins at the start of the 2023-24 season.

On top of welcoming his first child with his wife, Kiley, on Sunday, the Boston Bruins defenseman was named an alternate captain for Team USA for the upcoming NHL 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.

Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo will both be back on the Bruins blue line leaving Hampus Lindholm as the only defenseman missing. Mark Kastelic remains out of the lineup, but there was good news on him as well as he was back at morning skate on Thursday.

After an ugly 7-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 28, the Boston Bruins made some notable changes to their lines at Jan. 30's morning skate. On offense, Elias Lindholm was moved back up to the second-line center spot, with Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle as his wingers. With this, Matthew Poitras was dropped to the third-line center spot.
