The 29-year-old infielder was selected by the Red Sox in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft and spent three years on the big league roster. Boston traded Chavis in the summer of 2021 to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for left-handed relief pitcher Austin Davis.
