Texas Parks and Wildlife said the most recent infected birds came from Landa Park in New Braunfels. In total, 22 vultures died: 19 were dead when staff received the initial report and three were euthanized. Three waterfowl of an unknown species were also found dead.

Bird flu is spreading among Central Texas wild birds as migration brings more and more birds here for the winter.

Multiple black vultures at Landa Park have died from avian flu. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Division tells us the black vultures are infected with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). Disease experts indicate HPAI is circulating among wild birds in Texas as waterbirds and waterfowl visit their wintering grounds.
