Two-thirds of the staff at Thinking Machines Lab came from OpenAI, where the founder was once chief technology officer.

Mira Murati, OpenAI’s former chief technology officer, has founded a new AI startup called Thinking Machines Lab. In a blog post on Tuesday, February 18, the newly launched AI research and product startup said that its objective is to make AI systems more widely understood, customizable, and generally capable.”

About 30 researchers and engineers at Thinking Machines Lab come from rivals such as OpenAI, Meta, and Mistral, with ex-OpenAI staff making up two-thirds of the team.
