Maryland Gov. Wes Moore's proposed 2026 budget would cut $111 million in state funding from the University System of Maryland, according to The Banner.

The USM is committed to reducing costs across our universities while still offering the same high-quality, affordable education that Marylanders expect from us. Creating value and innovation for our state has always been a top priority and that won’t change with this coming budget cycle.

The budget also predicted tuition increases at system campuses, though the Board of Regents has control of that.

Governor Wes Moore says two-thirds of the people of Maryland, or 82%, will be getting a tax cut soon. Moore joins “CUOMO” to discuss his balanced Maryland budget and says “this is the moment when Maryland can actually grow economically” while helping working families.

Moore said the brunt of the tax increases will be shouldered by Marylanders with a household income north of $700,000 a year. In 2023, more than 18% of Maryland households were estimated to earn $200,
