Milan Cortina Winter Olympics kick off Feb. 6 with an Opening Ceremony at San Siro Stadium in Milan (with non-medal competition beginning Feb. 4).The 116 medal events — most in Winter Olympic history — will be scattered across Northern Italy from Milan in the west to Cortina d'Ampezzo in the east.

Next year’s Olympics might be called the Milan Cortina Games but it will actually be staged across a large swath of northern Italy spread over five different venue clusters.

The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games, which open one year from today, feature the Olympic debuts of one sport and six new events within existing sports.

Also important to know, there are 3 international airports in Milan- Malpensa (MXP), Linate (LIN) and Bergamo (BGY). Malpensa Airport is the main airport in Milan and the second busiest airport in Italy. Linate is the closet airport to the city center and the second busiest airport in Milan. Bergamo Airport is the least popular airport in the city.
