Mumbai only have one Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to their credit and they had secured it under the leadership of Ajnkya Rahane in 2022 by defeating Himachal Pradesh in the final at the Eden Gardens.

The Mumbai Cricket Association on Sunday announced the squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is scheduled to begin on November 23. Shreyas Iyer was named the captain of the side, which includes the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw, who was earlier excluded from the Ranji Trophy squad due to fitness-related issues.

Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an IPL title last season, has been chosen by the MCA selection committee as the ideal candidate to captain the Mumbai T20 team, succeeding Ajinkya Rahane.
