Apple is said to have dropped out of a new funding round for OpenAI at the last minute, but this will have no impact on its plans to integrate optional ChatGPT queries into Apple Intelligence.

Apple has stepped away from negotiations to invest in OpenAI's latest funding round, which is expected to raise about $6.5 billion, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Shortly before the end of the next round of financing for the ChatGPT makers, Apple is said to have withdrawn. Microsoft is reportedly still involved.

Other firms, such as Microsoft and Nvidia, have also been in talks to participate, the report said, adding that Microsoft was expected to invest about $1 billion after having already poured $13 billion into the company.

The company behind ChatGPT is aiming to raise around $6.5 billion in funding set to close next week.
