The Trump administration appealed a Washington federal judge’s order blocking the president’s executive order (EO) on birthright citizenship from being enforced, hours after the judge scolded the administration for using the EO for personal and political gains.

The injunction issued Thursday by a judge in Seattle came a day after another injunction stemming from a lawsuit in Maryland.

A federal judge in Boston will consider a request from 18 states to block President Donald Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship for the children of parents who are in the U.S. illegally.
