An Israeli airstrike on Sunday targeted a building in Beirut’s densely populated Ras al-Nabaa neighborhood, killing Hezbollah’s media relations chief, Mohammad Afif, according to two Lebanese security sources.

He looked after political programs and news on the group's Al-Manar TV and played a crucial role in managing media coverage throughout the conflict between Israel and Lebanon that took place in July 2006,

The Hezbollah militant group has a strong presence in central Beirut, known as the Dahiyeh, and the strikes came as Lebanese officials are considering a U.S.-brokered cease-fire proposal.
