Severe fire weather conditions -- high winds with low humidity -- will continue through Wednesday, keeping the fire threat in all of Los Angeles County critical, LA Fire Chief Anthony Marrone warned.

Early Tuesday morning, Santa Ana winds blowing 20 to 30 mph pushed a small vegetation fire in Ventura’s Santa Clara River bottom, just south of the Olivas Links golf course from 1 acre at 7:55 a.m. to 28 acres before its forward motion was stopped by firefighters around 10 a.

In Ventura County, a brush fire broke out off Olivas Park Drive in Ventura Wednesday morning. A second fire sparked off Pacific Coast Highway, just across the county line, in the early afternoon, while a third blaze later sparked in Simi Valley. Firefighters say winds between 20 and 30 mph were blowing through the area as they attempted to quell the flames burning in the Santa Clara Riverbed.
