A rescue operation is underway in Westlake after a woman was reported stuck inside a tunnel and unable to get out Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. At approximately 8:20 a.

LAFD said a woman at a vacant dirt lot on Bixel Street near Sixth Street, where construction equipment could be seen at the site, made her way down into an underground tunnel and is not able to get out on her own.

A woman entered an underground tunnel at a Westlake construction site and refused to leave, prompting a response from firefighters and police officers.

Rescue crews surrounded the opening in the ground where dirt and rocks with exposed rebar led to a tunnel below, and placed a ladder in the hole, attempting to reach the woman.
