Ava is the fifth openly gay character on DC's Legends of Tomorrow after Lindsay Carlisle, Todd Rice, Ray Terrill and Leo Snart, as well as the first openly gay series regular. Ava is also the show's first character to have no known counterpart in the DC comics.
