The Untouchables (1987) — Too Hollywoody? : r/TrueFilm - Reddit
May 6, 2020 · But even in these films I see De Palma forcing emotional connections or moments that makes it feel forced or cheesy, maybe he exaggerated in Untouchables or it's just the setting like you said, of unambiguous good guys vs. bad guys. Still love some Morricone's scoring and De Niro's acting though.

The Untouchables (1987) What are you prepared to do? Young Treasury Agent Eliot Ness arrives in Chicago and is determined to take down Al Capone, but it's not going to be easy because Capone has the police in his pocket. Ness meets Jim Malone, a veteran patrolman and probably the most honorable one on the force.

Jun 23, 2020 · The Untouchables is a 1987 crime thriller, a fictional retelling of Elliot Ness and his team of incorruptible police officers who took down Al Capone. How does the film hold up, over 30 years later? To put it gently, this movie hasn’t aged very well.

Oct 31, 2020 · Scarface and The Untouchables are like a total 180 too with The Untouchables in my opinion catering to a wider audience and having a hero, but not holding up quality wise to Scarface. I’ve heard people say that if you view it as more of a western it’s a little better. Even the score has that western vibe with Morricone.
Is it worth watching The Untouchables at this point or has it
The film is loosely based on the book of the same name (1957) and the real-life events it was based on, but most of its plot is fictionalized.[4][5] The film stars Kevin Costner, Charles Martin Smith, Andy García, Robert De Niro (in the third collaboration between De Palma and De Niro, following 1968's Greetings and 1970's Hi, Mom!), and Sean ...

Aug 10, 2022 · The Untouchables is the Brian De Palma movie, that is quite unlike most other movies of his. For starters the gore is quite toned down here, sure it has some violent scenes, like Al Capone(Robert De Niro), bashing one of the gang members head with a baseball bat, but nothing remotely close to the chainsaw murder in Scarface or the power-drill murder scene in …

Oct 6, 2018 · I just watched the Untouchables again for the first time since it was in the theater. Wow that was not as good as I remembered it. The final court scene was so cheesy when Capone's lawyer enters a guilty plea despite his client's protests. It gave it a Disney feel. Sean Connery was great though.

Why is "The Untouchables" by Brian De Palma regarded so highly?
Dec 8, 2015 · I had read too much about the mafia and seen The Untouchables TV series, so a lot of what was shown didn't really wash. Overall, I'd rather watch the TV series than this film. The film was mostly fiction and was overly bloody and sensational, especially Al Capone using a bat to decapitate his enemies (Joe Accardo was the guy who was know for ...
